RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

« Tuesday, Mat 2. (Before J. 0. Crawford, Esq., R.M.) VA&BANCY. The woman Ann Worrell, who was remanded a week ago, was again brought up, and received a month*B imprisonment. It appeared from the evidence of Constable Doran, wbo arrested the prisoner, that she wbb rapidly reaching the pitiful condition, both of body and mind, in which she appeared in Court once before. MISTAKEN IDENTITY. A fishcrmnn named Ra°ffaelliJ Porrelli wns charged by Mr Reid with loitering near a hard labor gang, and using impertinent and insulting language to the warders when ordered off. The accused, however, brought evidence proving an alibi, and the charge was withdrawn. JOKING AND ITS EFFECTS. The adjourned charge of assault preferred ; by John Holmes against George M'Lean was gone into, the prosecutor being well enough to appear, though his head was bandaged. Tlio evidence of Holmes was taken ; but he evinced no wish to prosecute. He merely desired to bo reimbursed, as the blow had made him ill, and put him to considerable expense. Mr Allan, who appeared for prisoner, succeeded in settling matters amicably during a temporary adjournment of the case asked for by the Inspector of Police. The prosecutor subsequently withdrew his charge in person, and his Worship dismissed prisoner, but at the same time reminded him that he was to consider himself particularly fortunate.
