Poet Chalmees : 28th — Early, Eleanor, barque, from Newcastle. 29th — 7.45 a.m., Beautiful Star from Lyttellon ; 9.30 a.m., Tararua for Bluff. Bluff : 29th — 4 p.m., Airedale for Dunedin. The barque Record arrived in port on Tuesday morning, having made tho Heads on Monday night. She sailed from Newcastle on the 18th, and arrived as above, after a splendid passage of nine days. She has a cargo of coal for the H.Z.S.N. Co. Experienced fine weather on the passage. The barque Indus, Captain Johnson, brought up at the heads yesterday, afternoon, being short of provisions, having been nearly three weeks out from Dunedin for Newcastle. She left on the 2nd instant, experienced N.E. winds till the sth, when a heavy N.W. gale was encountered off the ■west end of Foveaux Straits. The ship being Tory light became totally unmanageable ; Bent down all the light spars, the gale moderating in lafc. 50 deg. 10 seo. South, long, 172 deg. 5 see.
