Dfnedin.— The Otago Daily Times of the 13th ; says: — A steady business has been doing through the ■week just closed, without, however, the occurrence of any very noticeable transactions. Coastwise orders continue comparatively small ; but upcountry and town trade hi'.vo possessed a moderate degree of briskness. The markets for breadstuffs, and grain have been stationary, but not inactive. Ne.v wheats are coining forward in tetter supply. Growers arc obtaining maintained prices, but have dismissed the present expectation of better rates. Flour stands at last quotations, the market being better supplied with country frauds. Oats not brisk— prices to some extent ■will be regulated by Australian advices ; and in tho absence of any late intelligence, no change can bo reported. Tho business done in liquids liaß been light. Spirits, genevas, and rums reanain at very full r;itC3, and transactions ure in consequence individually small. Heiinessy's brandite, in bulk and case, have been quitted to eome little extent at 8s and 31s. In malt liquors, importers' sales have been very small. Forbtouts in glass, a demand is maintained, but all others neglected. Sugars quiet, pending the sale of the Centaur's cargo, to take place on the 17th. Teas in fair inquiry, thiP market acquiring a firmer tone, and holders anticipating better rates. Sales of galvanised iron and timber are reported at maintained prices. Corn sacks still in request, but holders demanding too extremo rates to allow of much business. Candles and kerosene at present quiet, bul improvement looked for. Prosisions very dull. English b;vcon has of late been quite an inconsiderable article of trade. Hums ore in fair request, but supply small and prices ligh.
