Fergus is a dark chestnut— stands 16 hands — first class action— plenty of bono and muscle. His dam was got by the celebrated liorse Wanderer of New Soutb Wales ; bo was gofc by Sir Hercules. Sir Hercules, sire of Cossack, Zoe, Wetsail, Phcebe, and numerous other winners, by the imported horse Cap-a pie, out of fchoimportod mare Paraguay ; Cap-a-pie by tho Colonel, dam (sister lo Cnctns) oufc of the Duchess of York, by Waxy. Paraguay (who ran second for fche Oaks, and won the Newmarket, Town Plate and Nursery Stakes) by Sir Hercules out of Paradigm, by Partisan. Sir Hercules by Whalebone, out of Peri, by Wanderer. The Culonel (who ran a dead heat for tbe Derby, and won the Sfc Lcger) by Whisker, dam by'Delpluni, oufc of Tipple Cider by King Fergus ; vide Stud Book. Fergus won the first-class prizes at the Oamaru Pastoral and Agricultural Shows of 1563 and 1864, and in 1566 at Waikouaiti.
