NEW ZEALAND INTERPROVINCIAL STEAM MAIL SERVICES. 1 i "pVTOTICE is hereby given that tenders will be J3| received afc this office until Thursday, the 9bh day of January, 1868, for the performance of tbe undermentioned Steam Mail Services, for a period of six months from the commencement of the contract, determinable at that date or any subsequent date by three months' previous notice on either side : — 1. From tbe Manukau to Wellington, monthly, calling at Taranaki, Nelson, and Picton ; this service to coinmcnco from tho Manukau on the 3rd March, 1868. 2. From Auckland to Port Chalmers, monthly, calling at Tauranga, Napier, Wellington, and Lyttelton ; fchis service to commenco j from Auckland on the 12fcb February, J 1868. 3. From Wellington to the Bluff, monthly, calling at Lyttelton and Port Chalmers • this service to commence from Wellington on the 23rd February, 1868. 4. From fcho Bluff fco Wellington, monthly, calling afc Porfc Chalmers and LytteUon ; this service to commence from the Bluff on 3rd March, 1868. 5. From Porfc Chalmers to the Manukau, monthly, calling afc Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, Nelson and 'J aranaki ; fchis service fco commence from Porfc Chalmers on 20th February, 1868. 6. From Wellington to Auckland, monthly, calling at Napier and Tauranga ; this service fco commence from Wellington on tho 26th February, 1868. Tho dates of arrivals and departures afc the various ports to bo in accordance Avith a Time table to be seen afc this Office ; fche PostmasterGeneral to havo tho poAver to alter fcho dates. A proper and secure room to be provided for the safe custody of the mails. A chief cabin passage, freo of cost, to bo provided, if required, for a postal officer. All mails to be landed, shipped, or transhipped by and afc fcho expense of tho contractor, excepting at Taranaki. Tho names, tonnage, and horse- power of tbe vessels proposed to be employed iv this service to be stated, and tbo vessels to be approved by the Postmaster-General, and subject to bo surveyed by some person appointed by him whenever ho may consider it necessary. The Postmaster-General to havo the power of detaining the vessels for twenty -four hours afc any port; without charge ; tbo rate of demurrage per diem for any further detention to bo slated. Tenders fco state the rate per diem or otherwise for passages for members of the General Assembly and officers of the General Government, exclusive of wines, spirits, &c.
