I Government Notice. NEW ZEALAND INTERPROVINCIAL bTEAM MAIL SERVICES. NOTICE is hercbv given that tenders will be received at this ollice until Thursday, tho 9th clay of January, 1868, for tho performance of the undermentioned Steam Mail Services, for a period of six months from tho commencement of the contract, deter mumble at that date or any subsequent duto by three months' previous notice on either side : — 1. From the Manukau to Wellington, monthly, calling at Taranaki, Nelson, and Picton ; this service to commence from the Manukau on the 3rd March, 1868. 2. From Auckland to Port Chalmers, monthly, calling at Tauranga, Napier, Wellington, and Lytteltou ; this service to commence I from Aucklund on tho 12th February, 1868. j 3. From Wellington to tho BlufT, monthly, calling at Lyttelton und Port Chalmers; this service to commence from Wellington on the 23rd February, 1868. 4. prom the Bluff to Wellington, monthly, calling at Port Chalmers and Lytlolton ; this service to commence from the Bluff on 3rd Mureh, 1868. 5. From Port Chalmers to the Manukau, monthly, calling at Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, Nelson and 'J aranaki ; this service to commence from Port Chalmers on 20th February, 1808. G. From Wellington to Auckland, monthly, calling at Nupicr and Tauranga ; this service to commence from Wellington on the 26th February, 1863. The dates of arrivals and departures nt the various ports to bo in accordance with a Time table to be seen at (his Office j tho PostmasterGeneral to have the power to alter the dates. A proper and securo room to be provided for the safe custody of the mails. A chief cabin passage, free of cost, to be provided, if required, for a postal officer. All mails to be landed, shipped, or transhipped by and at the expense of the contractor, excepting at Taranaki. Tho names, tonnage, and horse- power of the vessels proposed to bo employed in this service to be stated, and tho vessels to be approved by the Postmaster-General, and subject to be surveyed by some person appointed by him whenever he may consider it necessary. The Postmaster-General to havo the power of detaining the vessels for twenty-four hours at any port without charge ; tho rate of demurrage per diem for any further detention to bo stated. Tenders to state the rate per diem or otherwise for passages for members of tho General Assembly and officers of the General Government, exalusive of wines, spirits, &c. Smith, Civil Engineers, said tramway to be called cho " Wellington and Wairarapa Grand Trunk Tramway." with a capital of £120,000, in 12,000 bhares of £10 each, with power to increase to 24,000 shares.
