Stud Horses. J|TO STAND THIS SEASON. mHE Thorough-bred Horse FERGUS will X stand for this season at tho Hutt, and adjacent country districts. Fergus is a dark chestnut — stands 16 hands — - first class action — plenty of bone and muscle. His dam was got by the celebrated horso Wanderer of New South Wales ; he was got by Sir Hercules. Sir Hercules, Bire of Cossack, Zoe, Wetsail, Phoebe, and numerous other winners, by the imported horse Cap-a-pie, out of the imported mare Paraguay ; Cap-a-pic by tho Colonel, dam (sister to Cactws) out of the Duchess of York, by Waxy. Paraguay (who ran second for the Oaks, and won tho Newmarket Town Plate and Nursery Stakes) by Sir Hercules out of Paradigm, by Partisan. Sir Hercules by Whalebone, out of Peri, by Wanderer. The Colonel (who ran a dead heat for the Derby, and won tho St Leger) by Whisker, dam by' Delphini, out of Tipple Cider by King Fergus ; vide Stud Book. Fergus won the first-class prizes at the Oamaru Pastoral and Agricultural Shows of 1863 and 1864, and in 1866 &t Waikouaiti. By Purston out of Vesta, (imported by Captain Russell, of New Sou^h Wales). Purßton got by Flying Dutchman out of Cruiskeen Lawn by Argiria. Her dam Brandy Bet, by Canteen out of Bigotini by Thunderbolt, Flying Dutchman by Bay Middolton out of Barbelle, dam of Van Tromp. Vesta, by Sir Watkin out of Old Vesta, half sister to Jorrocks by Egremont, out of Lady Cordelia. Blood second to nono ever imported into New Zealand. Will stand at the owner's stables, Criterion Hotel, Upper Hutt. Terms £4 4s for single mares. Good paddocks provided ior mares at 3s per week, without responsibility.
