LIQUOR CAHBOxNId -DEIEKUENS or Concentrated alcoholic solution of the constituents of Coal Tar. (Kxtract from Lancet, December 22, 1866). "Liq. Oarbonis Dktebgens.— We are very sceptical of the valuo of new'remedies, and it was in a spirit of scepticism that we tried the liq. carbonis detergent. It is represented to be ft eoncentmted alcoholic solution of the constituents of coal tar, and to contain all the aotive ingredients of tho tar, to wit, benzine, napthuline.and phonic acid, 'ihe addition of water, with agitation, makes a durable emulsion, in which the tar re- j mains in a state of fine suspension, almost equivalent to solution. Our therapeutical experience of the preparation is very satisfactory indeed. In our hands- it has been a most effective agent in the euse of various skin discuses, especially of the chronic eczematous class ; and one ease of psoriasis which had resisted all other kinds of treatment speedily got well under tho application of tho liq. carbonis detergena. Wo esteem it a very valuable addition to'our list of skin remedies, and worthy of a very extended trial by the profession. In the above classes ef disease, and in various others, such as fotid ulcers, &c, the preparation is put into the form of soap." PURE COAL TAR SOAP, (Registered as sapo carbonis dotergone).
