J IQUOR CAUBONIS DETERGENS or .1 A Concentrated alcoholic solution of the constituents of Coul Tar. (Extract from Lancet, December 22, 1866). " LiQ. Caiibonis Detehgens. — Wo are very sceptical of the value of new remedios, and it was in a spirit of scepticism that we tried tho liq. carbonis detergens. Ifc is represented to be a concentrated alcoholic solution of the constituents of coal tar, and to contain all the active ingredients of the tor, to wit, bonzino, napthuline, and phonic acid. The addition of water, with agitation, makes a durable emuldion, in which the tar re-. i mains in a state of flue suspension, almost equivalent to solution. Our therapeutical experience of tho preparation is very satisfactory indeed. In i our hands it has been a most effective agent in the case of various skin diseases, especially of the chronic eczomatous class ; and one caso of psoriasia which had resisted all other kinds of treatment speedily got well under tho application of the liq, enrbonis detergens. Wo ealeoin it a vory valuable addition to our list of skin remedies, and worthy of a very extended trial by the profession. In the above classes ©f disease, and in various others, such as fetid ulcers, &c, the preparation is put into the form of sonp." PURE COAL TAR SOAP, (Registered as sapo carbonis detorgens). This soap is unrivalled as a skin soap, as proved by' abundant medical testimony. By daily use infectious diseases are prevented, and a clear and healthy appearance imparted to the akin.
