COMMERCIAL.
Independent Opficb, Friday Evening. There is little change to note in our last quotations for the monthly summary. Meisrs Kebbell quote flour at £1 per ton lower than it was, but in other articles there is no change. Business during the -week has been quiet, not much being done owing to the departure of the English mail. At the Commercial Sale Room, a sale by auction of tobacco and cigars, was held on Wednesday last, by Alfred A. Barnett. Buyers were not very numerous, and but a few lots were disposed of. A parcel of Barrett'3 twist, duty paid, fetched 5s 3d per lb j Havana cigars, La Patria brand, brought £8 per thousand out of Bond. The Stock of Tobacco & Cigars in the market is very heavy and further supplies are expected, this and (.he late increase of ]suty all tends to keep prices down. Inferior qualities are scarcely saleable at all j Choice Southern Brands of Aromatic might be moved off. Holders of Tens Cavendish must submit to a loss if anxious to sell at the present time.
