Parties whose accounts are now long past due are therefore respectfully requested tosettle them before tho date in question, and with the object of facilitating this, a collector will visit the Hutt, and Wairarapa districts during the ensuing two months. In the absence from Wanganui of Mr I. Jones, the agent for the " Wellington independent," Mr Hulke has been appointed temporarily to receive new subscriptions and collect the few old accounts that still remain unsettled. In consequence of defective postal arrangements, I have learned that lho delivery of the •' Independent" to Wanganui subscribers has frequently been intenupted and irregular.
