Wellington SnirriNG. — On reference to the last Gazette, published on Thursday last, wo find under the return of the number of Vessels cleared gut at the several ports of New Zealand, during the quartor ended 31st December, 18G5, that 1-i ships of which the tonnage amounted to ■4,290 tons, left this port. This makes an increase on the corresponding quarter of the previous year of eight vessels • anti shows the progression made by the province. Wellington Militia. — We notice by tho last Gazette, that liis Excellency the Governor has been pleased to accept the resignation of the commission of Ensign in the above corps, held by A. Bowler, Esq. Wellington Fire Brigade.— We have been informed that it is the intention of the captain commanding, to parade tho Wellington Eire Brigade in their new uniform on Tuesday next. As we have mentioned in a previous issue the uniform consists of a forage cap, with the insignia of the corps engraved thereon, and a servicable rod serge coat. We have also great pleasure in observing, that the members of the corps still continue to devote a portion of ono night in each week to practise, and that the esprit de corps has not worn off with tho novelty.
