INDIA AND CHINA.
The Alabama has seized and burned three vessels in Malacca Straits since the 25tb of December. One of them was the British ship Mortaban, formerly an American, called the Texan Star. Sir John Lawrence, Governor-General of India, has arrived at Calcutta. Sir George Clark has been appointed to tha seat in the Indian Council, vacated by Sir John Lawrence. The war on the Indian frontier is at an end. The Ceylon planters complain of great deficiency in the supply «f coolie labor. Sir Hercules Robinson, Governor of Hong Kong, is making final arrangement at Singapore tor the transference of tbe Straits settlements from the Indian to the Colonial Department.
