Ciuoket. — A match between daren of the "Wellington Hero Cricket Club," and eleven of all Wellington, including the Military, took place on the parade ground,, near Mount Cook, oh Monday, the 9th instant. The clay was delightfully fine, there " not being a dull cloud in the sky," with a light air just sufficient to make it agreeable and pleasant. The contest attracted a great number of spectators, who werd present to witness the manly and good old English game of cricket. The wickets were pitched at 1 1 a.m., the Heroes going in first, and after some excellent play, scored 77 for their first innings. The military and civilians then took possession of the bats, and after some clever batting, Inge obtaining 17, Askew 16, and Baw, 10, from their own bats, the innings closed with a score of 101. The. Knights of the Willow then betook themselves to the tent, where an excellent luncheon was provided by Mr. W. Mitchell, of the " Hoyal Tiger," for the occasion. After partaking of refreshment, the game was resumed, the Heroes going in for their second innings; but the fates appeared against them, as several of their best players were caught out, before adding a notch to the score. The batting of Bradficld and Phillips was very good, the former going in first and carrying his bat out with him, after obtaining 14 runs, and the latter 10. The innings finally closed with a score of 42, making a total of 119 for the two innings. The military and civilians then went in, requiring only 19 to win, and made short work of it, securing the honors, with seven wickets to go down.
