We have Port' Louise Journals (says the Melbourne Herald) to January 10th. The Commercial' Gazette announces the arrival of the steamer Indiana; bringing the Overland Mails of; the; 24th October and 24th' November. The; unfortunate disappointment, it says,.of .last -month, was almost occuring again.--. The Indiana waited; 36 hours at ;Galle for the Suez steamer with the: "November Overland Mail,.and it was only at. the last hour that the latter arrived. : Strange to say; p'tir contemporary idoes not publish a single line of.English hews. The,favourable state of'the Sugar Market.withthe steady and gradual, rise in;prices was.expected to add ,to the activity ,pf business, and enable the planter to look, towardsimprovements, until now, in too many instances, beyond his. reach. l

' ]The irregularity; of postal communiea-j tion, combined with the; want of, freight, had restrained the exportation of sugar, aiidyet more had been, shipped to the present time.than at the same date last year.c.The weather : ,was,vfaypiir'able for making the crop, arid as prices were such as to induce the importers to, sell, sugar, had been. sent, to town, with all despatch.
