Commissariat Office, Wellington, SOlh May, 1850. SEALED TENDERS, in duplicate, will be received by the Undersigned, at this Office, ■until 12 o'clock Noon, on Satuhday, 15th June next, for furnishing the Commissariat Department, Wellington, from Ist July, 1850, to 3ist March, 1851, inclusively, with PmEwooD, at per 100 His., to consist exclusively of " Manukn," " Rata," or other Hard Wood, well seasoned, split and cut into four feet lengths. The Contractor must have continually on hand a stock sufficient for Fourteen Days consumption, from which nlons the issues are to be made; this stock to be at all times subject to the inspection of the Commissariat, and all Wood objected to at such inspections must be immediately removed. The Wood, although paid for by Weight according to Contract, must be delivered by Measurement, and stacked for that purpose by the Contractor —71 Cubic Feet being considered equivalent to 2340fi>s. The -other 'Conditions of Contract will be the ■ same as those published in the '• Wellington, Independent (Newspnper) of 10th January iast, under the head of " Annual Contracts." WHEREAS an Ordinance was enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, Session 7, No. 17, intituled "An " Ordinance to repeal the Cattle Trespass " Ordinance and the Cattle Trespass " Amendment Ordinance, and to pro- " vide for the summary recovery of Com"pensation for damage done by Cattle " Trespassing," itis amongst other things enacted, that "If any Cattle shall be; found wandering at large in any Street, or Public Place within the limits of any Town or Village which shall be proclaimed by the Governor (or Lieutenant-Go-vernor) to come within the operation of this present provision, the owners thereof shallforfeit and pay for every.head of Cattle so wandering any sum not exceeding Five Shillings, to be recovered in a •summary way;" and whereas it is further provided that, " for .the purpose of this Ordinance, the word Cattle shall "be taken to include horned or neat Cattle, Horses, Mules, Asses, Sheep, Goats, and Swine. Now therefore I, the Lieutenant-Go-vernor of New Minister aforesaid, in pursuance of the authority by the said in part recited Ordinance in me vested, do hereby proclaim and declare, that on and after the First day of July, 1850, the Town of Lyttleton (Port Victoria), as the same is described and delineated in the authorized Plans of the Canterbury Association, shall come within the operation of the 4th clause of the said in part recited Ordinance.
