INDIA.
News from India to the end of February has come to hand, via the Cape and Van
Dietnen's Laud. Everything is quiet. Sat C. Napier had been amusing himself by thrashing some predatory tribes who were vassels to the Khan of Khelat, a native prince whose territory is on the border of Scinde. When complaints were made to the Khan of the conduct of some of these chiefs, he replied they were too strong for him, upon which Naimkh. said he would just go through the Khelat territoiy and punish them himself, which he did in a very short lime. Mr. Justice Burton delivered a charge to the Grand Jury of Madras, in January last, which had created quite an excitement. His Lordship protested most strongly against a measure which was understood to be in preparation forgiving the native Courts authority over all Europeans not residing within the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court.
