GIRLS’ MARCHING

PROGRESS OF THE SPORT IN DISTRICT Representatives of the Waihi gills’ marching teams attended a meeting of the Waikato Girls’ Marching Association at Hamilton last Sunday. It was a very instructive visit which made all realise the large part this summer sport is now playing in the lives Of New Zealand girls. The Waikato now has 38 teams with Waihi as the newest recruits which has mdde the local girls all the keener to become the champions for the 1951 season. An educational talkie film taken in technicolour and dealing with girls marching has been lent to the local association for this week-end when screenings to which the public are invited will be given. , Hamilton has also offered to bring two or three teams to Waihi at a later date to give a display and the offer was gratefully accepted. The local teams are hoping for a fair measure of public support in their endeavours to put Waihi on the marching trap, \
