Rugby Queen Carnival
The queen carnival to raise funds to pay off the indebtedness on Rugby Park is now in full swing and keen committees for both the High School Old Boys’ queen (Miss P. Jesney) and the Mataiira queen (Miss V. Johnson) are putting in quite a lot of time thinking up new and pleasant ways of separating the ' public from its small change. Several functions have already been held but no indication has been given of the amount of cash in hand by the respective treasurers. The St. John’s club has decided to co-operate with Malaura for the carnival while the Huhnai club will throw in its weight in support of the Katikati queen, Miss Marie Sampson. The next few weeks will see quite a heavy programme of dances, football matches, evenings, concerts, street stalls and “other functions” in the town and district.
