Farm Statistics Wanted District farmers are requested to forward their annual agricultural and pastoral statistics schedules to the sub-enumerator, Constable K. N. Crisp, at Waihi by the end of this week at the latest. Waihi Bowlers Do Well Representatives of the Waihi Rowling Club acquitted themselves very well at the Tauranga annual combined tournament which ended last week. No fewer than 60 teams from all parts of the North Island took part, and Waihi went right through the play to the last five, just missing the semifinals. The team consisted of L. McGonagte (skip), S. 11. Thompson. J. Collins and R. Castaing. Busy Fire Brigade Up to yesterday afternoon, when a call was received to a scrub fire in the vicinity of lower Savage Road, the Waihi Kirc Brigade had received no fewer than 13 calls in 12 days. Most of the calls, however, were to scrub tires, which were extinguished before any damage to property was done. On Thursday morning, when a high wind was blowing, rubbish burning in an incinerator at the rear of Marriott's shop endangered buildings in lower Seddon Street owned by Mrs C. Burk, of Waihi Beach, and occupied by Mr George Shepherd, dealer. Only slight damage was done; while another good "save" was at about 9.15 o'clock on Friday evening, when dry growth burning in the garden threatened an unoccupied bouse and its contents in Junction Road owned by Mr A. V. Putan. A corner of the verandah and some boarding were damaged before the flames could be suppressed. The property was not insured.
