STALINGRAD
(By E.L.8.G.) Not long ago the sufferings of Sebastopol drew attention to the sacrificial fervour of Russian men and women; now the defenders of Stalingrad repeat the message. We can comprehend the German strategy; last year they overran part of Russia and were not dispossessed. This; year they have gone much further;they intend to repeat the process, next year until the Russian army collapses. But we can be sure' that the plans were not based on resistance of the type that has met them.We sometimes tend to losfe faith when we hear of continued withdrawals in many parts' of the world. But, again, the time of the stop will come; then the slow but steady return over the same ground. Stalingrad sends a message of hope to the world.
