Every man or woman believes something with passionate intensity. That becomes his creed. It makes a difference to life. His creed may be a mixtnre of fantastic nonsense and twisted truth the emblem of which is a crooked cross. He may twist the word liberty to mean license to do all he may desire. He may believe that every trick of cunning is justified if it leads to this end. The main point I reach is this: Every belief brings with it power if only Faith is strong enough. Faith visualises a city which can be built either by God or by man’s own efforts. The students of Moscow with their slogan, “We are building a city,” represent one section, while Abraham, who looked for a city whose builder and master was God, represents the other. So the New Order which the church presents is simply permitting God to make all things new. God works from the individual outwards. Let Him have first place in a man’s life and the New Order has dawned. Let God rule over all thought, desire and ambition, then the golden rule of life becomes paramount. Cut out selfishness and let God’s voice be heard. Yield yourself to God and God will use you as either a tool, an instrument or a weapon: a tool with which to fashion something according to a model, an instrument to make for harmony, a weapon in defence of righteousness according to God’s plan.
