Controllers and all owners of motor-cars using their vehicles in connection with E.P.S. trial emergency alarms in Waihi are to be supplied with one gallon of benzine free. Water at Waihi Hospital
At Tuesday’s meeting of the Thames Hospital Board a letter was received from the Waihi Borough Council re water pressure at the Waihi hospital, stating that the council had no funds at present to undertake the work of improving the pressure, and the matter was to be considered next year. Girls as EjP.S. Messengers
All girls 14 years of age and over are eligible for service as messengers in the Waihi E.P.S., it has been decided by the Central Committee of the organisation. Girls wishing to offer their services should get in touch with the secretary, Mr M. F. Haszard, at the Borough Council Chambers.
Exemption During Alerts Mine and battery employees attached to the E.P.S. who are at work when trial emergency alarms are being held are to be exempted from answering the call. This Was decided on at a meeting of the Central Committee of the Waihi and District E.P.S., on the recommendation of-the Chief Warden, Mr W. M. Wallnutt. Mine Worker Injured
Fairly severe injuries to the left hand and peppering of the forearm and leg were suffered by Mr Clarence A. Thorpe, a married man, as the result of a premature explosion while he was engaged in .trucking operations in company with Mr A. Carlyon in the Martha mine on Friday evening. Mr Thorpe, who was admitted to the Waihi hospital, is making satisfactory progress - and has since returned to his home.
