Fairly severe injuries to the left hand and peppering of the forearm and leg were suffered by Mr Clarence A. Thorpe, a married man, as the result of a premature explosion while he was engaged in .trucking operations in company with Mr A. Carlyon in the Martha mine on Friday evening. Mr Thorpe, who was admitted to the Waihi hospital, is making satisfactory progress - and has since returned to his home.
