UTILISATION COMMITTEE THAMES VALLEY DISTRICT „A Motor Trades Utilisation Committee comprising Mr R. W. Chappell (chairman), District Manpower Officer, Mr G. Mincher, employers’ representative, Mr J. K. McLean, union representative, Major De La Mare, Army representative, has been set up for the Thames Valley area as a result of recent negotiations. This committee is set up as an investigating body into all matters dealing with the motor trade under the existing conditions. Meetings have already been held over the last two months and many cases have been considered regarding the vital requiremetit of maintaining all types of motor vehicles and farm machinery. Any cases where mechanics or garage personnel are called ujp in ballots for army service are fully investigated and the committee, in accordance with its powers, acts in a recommending capacity regarding the merits of each case to the Armed Forces Appeal Board in connection with the respective appeals.

The chairman has advised that a number of cases have already been dealt with, including certain cases where there is a serious hold-up, with vehicles and farm machinery in working order is vital and one of national importance should the occasion arise.

. All employers in the motor business are advised that if lodging an appeal with the Armed Forces Appeal Board, they may, if they so desire, forward a copy of such appeal to the chairman, P.O. Box 69, iPaeroa, when the committee will investigate such cases and submit any recommendation for the consideration of the Armed Forces Appeal Board if the case merits such action.
