THE GAME OF CROQUET

WAIHI CLUB OPENS SEASON ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON Members and guests of the Waihi Croquet Club spent a very enjoyable afternoon last Saturday, when the lawns opened for the 1942-43 season. The president, Mrs C. R. Tilly, in her opening remarks, expressed pleasure at being able to welcome so many players and visitors, and hoped they would all spend a very happy afternoon on the lawns. The Mayoress, Mrs W. M. Wallnptt, was present, and, after wishing the club a very enjoyable and successful season, was invited by the president to play the first ball of the new season. On behalf of the club Mrs Corthwaite presented beautiful bouquets to the Mayoress and to the president. Results of the various competitions were.—Visitors: Angles, Mrs Brown; ladder, Mrs Roberts; 'bobs, Mrs Spratt. Players: Angles', Miss L. Goodridge; crazy, Mrs J. Pivac; golf, Mesdames E. A. Wilson and J. Aitken; take-off, Mrs C. R. Tilly.
