An amusing incident happened at tile usual Sunday morning practice of the Wailii Federal Band yesterday, it was time to start, and in response to the tapping of the conductor s baton, Bandsman J. Beeston picked up his big brass instrument and started to blow. There seemed to be something wrong. The puzzled bandsman blew and blew until bis cheeks were puffed out. like a small inflated balloon, blit still there was no sign of a musical note coming forth. It was then suggested that maybe the extreme cold had something to do with tlio trouble, and the bandsman held the instrument alongside tlie heater. After a little manipulating with the several valves, a piece of ieo several inches long slipped out, and the trouble was over.

At (he annual meeting of the Wailii Bowling Club on Saturday evening, Mr It. Blackwood was elected president for the season 1941-42, replacing Mr S. IT. Thompson, who held the office for one season.
