Temuka railway officers were informed and took steps to divert the runaway on to a loop and the train came to a dead stop at the High Street crossing. Some carriages were overturned and blocked the main line. The express due at Temuka at 2.10 could not get past and it will take some time to clear the line. I’he passengers on the train escaped unhurt through the carriage window after the carriage overturned.
