The fruit growers in the districts 1 covered by the Fruit Export Control I Board have decided against a proposal that the practice c: pooling fruit for export should be adopted in New Zealand. The result of the postal ballot conducted by the Fruit Board in conjunction with the New Zealand Fruit Growers’ Fedreation was the rejection ot the proposal by 254 votes, to 230. In Nelson 123 voted against the proposal and 107 for, while in Blenheim the figures were 20 and one respectively. The only districts with a majority in favour were Hawke’s Bay and Auckland, where pooling has been practised for several years.
