GRAVE THREAT TO PEACE
ADVENT OF HITLERISM IN EUROPE. CHECK TO DISARMAMENT. LONDON, September 22. “The time has come to tell the truth about disarmament and treaty revision,” writes Mr. J, L. Garvin in the “Observer.” “The whole problem has been fundamentally changed by the advent of Hitlerism. If the Nazis had power now they would tear their neighbours to pieces,” declares the writer. “The Nazis’ fanatical revolution condemns and extirpates every moral principle on which the League of Nations was founded.
“If we were blind to Hitlerism it would mean again the tramp to death for millions. Far more than Bolshevism, which at present is a serious force on the side of peace, the Nazi creed is the enemy of every hope for the future of mankind. “It would be madness for Europe to be deluded by Nazi devices to gain time while they are preparing for war.
“Germany is the only nation on earth now in which there is glorification of war for war’s sake. Mechanical cures are no use for such a monstrous mental disease. "Prance’s argument against disarmament is impregnable. Nobody can disarm until Hitlerism begins to give assurances of safe behaviour.”
