ACADEMY THEATRE

CONCERT AND PICTURES TO-NIGHT To-night has been set aside for the grand benefit performance for the Athletic queen campaign and an excellent programme has been arranged. The first portion of the entertainment will be given by a party of Paeroa and local artists and firstclass singing and humorous items will be a special feature. “Lady and Gent,’’ a Paramount picture will be presented, featuring George Bancroft and Wynne Gibson, and will take up all the second half of the programme. Such a first-class entertainment should guarantee a big house. A great comedy, roaring with hilarity, will be found in “The Sporting Widow,” which lias been secured for Saturday. Included in a fine supporting programme will be “Hollywood on Parade,” a revue, a two-reel comedy, “Up Popped the Ghost,” a new screen song. “Ton Try Somebody Else,” and other good subjects.
