CYCLING NOTES
TRAINING WORK ON THE WAIHI CINDER TRACK GOOD ENTRIES FOR CARNIVAL (Contributed by “Sprocket.”) Riders have been getting down to hard work on the Waihi Cycle Club’s cinder track during the past few
evenings, including cyclists from Walhou, Paeroa, Te Aroha and Waharoa, among them being the crack grass track rider, Pilkwigton. The visitors have all commented favourably on the track.
Local riders who have been shaping well are R. Kingsford, N. O’Neil, J. Worth and the McNamaras (2). Tlie pair to show most improvement are Kingsford and O’Neil, the latter being the maker of a top-notcher with coaching.
So far the club lias received excellent nominations for its Easter caynival, those entered including Whitten; who won the title of champion of champions at the last championship gathering and is a thrilling rider, Parker, a New Zealand track champion; and Burk, the fastest one lap man in New Zealand.
Several Waihi men have announced their intention of competing at the sports at Waharoa on Saturday next and should make their presence felt. Members of the club did quite a lot of work in the way of improving the track last week-end and have to thank Mr V. Hollis for valuable assistance. j
