UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF
LEVY AND DECLARATION OF
INCOME
MAKE ONE JOB OF THEM
When payment of the unemployment levy is being made during the coming month it will be a simple matter to complete a declaration of income for 31st March, 1932. Probably in most cases a tax on income other than salary or wages will not be payable; but in order to get the busines over and done with it is most desirable that a declaration be made If a tax is payable it should be paid at the same time.
The essential thing is to make one job of these duties of citizenship. They are both part of one transaction, and to make two operations of them may cause personal inconvenience and unnecessary trouble.
Both levy and tax fall due on Ist May, and the form for declaration of income is obtainable at all money order offices.
An important point to remember is that it is optional whether the declaration of income is made at a post office or to the Income Tax Commissioner; but if a return of income has been made to the latter olliciarit is essential that a declaration that this has been done shall be made at the post office. It is not necessary to make two declarations of income.
