POSITION GROWS MORE SERIOUS ATTITUDE OF EMPLOYERS. WILL STAND BY AWARD. By Telegraph.—Presa Association. WELLINGTON, this day. Tho Employers’ Federation has issued a statement in which it says.that at an interview between representatives of the Seamen’s Union and Shipowners on Tuesday it was made plain that hostility to the new award was the reason for stoppage of work, and a proposal was made on behailf of the union that the old agreement (1920) should be reenacted with a slight increase of wages. The employers "have no option but to observe the award, and intend to do so. The award expires at the end of next October, and if, after a fair trial, lit is found that certain matters need reconsideration} they can then be reconsidered.
