MARKET LACKS BUOYANCY COMPETITION SLACK The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., Llarailtin, reports: —At Hamilton wo had an average yarding ot ail classes ot stock. Although a considerable clearance was effected the tone of the market lacked the buoyancy of a few weeks ago, Fat cattle drew little attention, steers making from i’ll to £lB. Very few prime quality were penned. Grown steers were in short supply and two year empty heifers were in fair quantity, but failed (o maintain the substantial advance of the previous week. The best of those sold reached £5 10s, smaller £1 os to £1 los; steers of the same age, good quality, were to £-1 10s, small £3 os. Yearlings, especially heifcro, drew fair com petition, the best ot the latter making from £2 Hs to £3 8s 6d, smaller sorts from 275. Yearling steers reached £2 2s 6J ; calves frem 7s 9d to 12s 6d, The quality of the stock in the. dairy section was mostly inferior, and sold at ruling rates. The best cows offering made to £ls, others £7 10s to £11; heifers from £7 10s to £9 15s. The competition for fat sheep was dull and spiritless, resulting in many lots being passed. Wethers made from 21s 6d to 23s (Id ; ewes 15s Gd ; ewes in lamb to E. L. rams (very forward) reached £1; small backward from 8s; empty st-src ewes from 7s co 8s 6d ; store lambs 9s 3d to 30s Bd. Pigs advanced on last week’s rates, drawing strong competition lor ail classes, Baconcrs made to £7 Is; porkers £8 los to £1; slips £l 5s to £2; weaners from 16s.
