Mr Frank Sheldon (Australian Trade Comissioner) has from W n shin gton. He found very keen interest in the Imperial Conference there and >al.so throughout the country during his recent trip along the coast. Summarising the observations which he made during tho tour. Mr Sheldon states that h>( found coastal business depressed owing to tho shipping situation, and the outlook dull.. Thr'oughout tho Middle M ost, much unemployment exists, tho depression being primarily due to the railroad situation. Commenting on the shipping slump, Mr Sheldon stair cm that H\i American Government realises that its methods of establishing a mercantile marine is not suited ro the conditions of its policy, and will now transfer conubl to private owners as theretofore.
