In tho House of Commons there was an exciting debate on the proposal to reduce the salary of I)r. C. Addiaon, late. .Minister for Health and »Orr a Minister without portfolio, on the ground that he was paid without tho House having been consulted. Tho Premier, Mr Lloyd George, eulogized Dr Addison’s services, and justified liis holding oflica on tho ground that there was great strain on the Ministers, but in view of the necessity for economy lie offered do confine the offiefe to* tills Session, The vote to reduce Dr. Addison’s salary by £2.500 was carried without division.
