FREE MEALS TAKEN

Thfei unemployed continue daily to parade the streets in large numbeirs. rfThey have adopted a new scheme for obtaining meaJs. Big squads invade restaurants, and if they succeed in obtaining meals they book them to the Government. Two hundred men invaded Anthony Hordern's tearooms and the waitresses were duly instructed to booTt the orders. The men we.ro allowed to enjoy a rest for a. time, and then a big squad of police appeared. Under threate thai': if they made a disturbance iTiey would be arrested tire \ invaders clepaited. The visit was made on. the advice of the secretary j of the Labour-Council, who was i compelled to accompany the men., j ; The Government, is talcing steps to pre.ve.nt its being debited with the cost of meals without authority.
