In the course of a discussion on the air service estimates in the House- of Commons a protest was made a,gaiin;sti Mr AYinston Giluffchill, who was recently appointed Secretary lor the Colonies, retaining dual offices!, especially as he was about to go on a long visit to- Egypt. Tliis was held to be an affront to the House.
Mr Churchill, in the course of a spirited reply, said that the Near East problem included the expenditure of ,£30,000,000 this year, and lie was endeavouring to make a 'grew! jctirtaiilment, heuca it was necessary to procure the acquiescence oi the men on the spot for the withdrawal of large numbers of troops.
