A DRAWBACK REMEDIED. One of the drawbacks of electrical appliances such as kettles), and so on', is that if the current is accidentally left on too long the appliance gets 'overheated and burns out or' causes damage. In order to obviajte this difficulty a British engineer lias invented a special form of plug switch in which the switch mechanism is held in the clos'ed position against the action of a spring by a pawl and ratchet wheel. This wheel is soldered to the spindle carrying the rotating contact with the switch. J When the connector gets too hob the solder melts and the switch slips back to the “ofi” position, thus) breaking the current. The switch may be used again as soon as the solder resets. ,
