For good specimens of the old issuos Irom 1855 to 1872 hjgh prices are being offered by the many millionaire collectors who have taken up the " hobby." The indusement offered for rarities has resulted in several large collections leaving .New Zealand lately. A well-known collector, Mr A. H. Wilson, who specialised in New Zealand stamps only, has recently sold part of his collection for £1350.

Mr Gecrge Colebrook, at one time a member of the Waihi Borough Council, and who left the town ten years ago, is at present on a visit hers. After leaving Waihi, Mr Colebrook took up a section of 154 acres on tho Rangitaiki Swamp, lying between Matata aud Whakatane. A process of systematic drainage enabled him to ultimately bring the whole of his section into a state of fertility, after whioh he acquired more land in the neighbourhood. On his sons returning from the war he established tbera on .100 acres, and this year they are milking 80 cows on that area. Mr Colebrook, who is accompanied by his wife, leaves for Auckland to morrow, and purposes to visit the South Island before returning borne.

The Mayor (Mr D. Donaldson), Town Clerk (Mr J. J. Bitchie) and Mr M. F.
