CONTRACTOR'S BANKRUPTCY
, BAD WEATHER AT KATIKATI. (Special to the Daily Telegraph.) AUUKLATTO. Shu flay. Leslie Cooper, 21 years of age, has filed a petition in bankruptcy, owing to unsuccessful contract work at Katikati. The amoun'fc owing to secured creditors is £lO7, and to unsecured creditor,? £458. The assets are valued at £l2B. In his statement the bankrupt says that he and a partner started a road contract for the Tauranga County Council, but although they worked hard, bad weatiher, bad roads and the high price of horse feed were against them. A loan of £250 from a Katikati resident in or about April was advanced to enable them to carry on. The money was. mostly used for paying wages and accounts. Subsequently the partnership was dissolved, the other man going, out of the business and handing the assets over to the- bankrupt, who hoped he would do all right on a metalling contract and a road formation job which he had to do. Owing however, to bad weather and other cause* he lost heavily.,
