SEAMAN DROWNED
IN AUCKLAND HARBOUR. BRAVE ATTEMPT AT RESCUE. (By Telegraph.—rresa Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. A man named George Duminvl, a seamau- on the -steamer Raranga, fell into the harbour on Saturday night and was drowned, despite a brave attempt at rescue by Jamcrs Hurley, a fireman on the same steamer. Hurley dived after Dumincl, and*found him undei the water, and tried to pull him ashore. \ bvstander threw a lifebuoy, and m trying ’to catch it Hurley, through numbed fingers, lost bis grip of Duminel who sank. Hurley dived again, but was unsuccessful, and he swam ashore in, an exhausted: stiytc.
