On closing the Waihi East School for the Easter holidays occasion was taken i to make a presentation to Mr Jas. Dean, headmaster, who is leaving to take charge of Meadowbank School, Beraucra, Auckland- The first assistant, Mr J. G. \ Phillips, on behalt of staff and pupils, read an address expressing regret that he was leaving them and congratulating h ; m on his promotion, also thanking him tor the kind consideration he had always shown towards them, xho tact he had always Bhown proved that he was quite entitled to the high position which I he held in the teaching profession, and | won for him the esteem of all with whom j he had worked, Mr Phillips handed j over to Mr Dean a very useful leather] kit bag and set of military hair brushes.
