The New York correspondent of the Daily Mail reports that the Boof Trust of Chicago is negotiating to secure control of the four or five important meat plants in the Argentine, but the sum at pro6ont asked is considered too high, and the Trust's agents at Buenos Avres aro tlioroforo about to report whethoi' it will bo advisable to secure control of tlio plants or crush them by direct competition. Inquiries on behalf of the Amorican interests are also to bo mado in Australia and New Zealand, with tlio view ol the supplies from those countries being controlled by the Trust.

An authority on the meat trade says ijint the well-known New York Meat Trust has been trying for some time to buy up the Argentine meat concerns, out that nothing is known of any attempt on tlio part of tlio combine to exlend its operations to Australia.
