Interesting Account of the Visit
By Telegraph.—Frosi Association, Wellington, this day, In-: wreck of tho Rongitoto, which sank off Jaokson's Head in 1873, was recently visited by a diver in search of a cargo of oopper plates sho was supposed to carry. Iho steamor was found to bo overgrown with kelp. 'Tho engines were in a romorkablo stato of preservation, but wero thickly oncrustcd with submarinegrewth. No copper Was found, but tho afterhold contained a largo quantity of liquor of various sorts. Sonio was sampled, and found to havo improved by submersion, except tho brandy. No money was discovered in tho strongroom, having boon removed when tho vessel was abandoned. •
