At a meeting of the Executive of the Waihi Branch of the Liberal and Labour Federation last night, lettors were received from | Wellington intimating that Ihe Premier hoped to be in vVaihi towards the end of February, when ho would present the charter io the Waihi and Waikino Branch. It was resolved to ascertain as soon sb possible the exact time of tho Premier's visit in order to arrange to snit» ably entertain him
This morning Mr. R. S. Bash (Warden), the Mayor, Mr. Thoa Gilmour, Messrs H. D, N, Haszard (Government Surveyor), E. W. Cave (Mining Registrar), W. M, Jackson (Borongh Solioitor), D. W. McArthur (Borough Engineer), H. D. Mor* peth (Town Clerk), and Crs. Newth, Donaldson, Foster, Rybnrn, and Saunders, made a tour of inspection of the Borough reserves, The objeot of the inspection was to enable the Warden to get information as to the locality of the reserves, in view of getting them gazetted as permanent roserves, In the course of a discussion on the question of residence site titles the Warden said he considered that the present condition of things was very unsatisfactory, He had at different times disoussed tho question with Mr MoGowan, and both had come to the conclusion that alterations in the conditions under whioh residence sites were held were necessary, and he wns quite prepared to assist the Counoil in bettering them.
