Annual Meeting

Tuk annual mocting ot the Wailii Crickes Association was hold last evening in i'illing'a Hotol, There was an excellent attendance of cricketers representing tho threo Waihi clubs. Mr T, D. Rico representing tho Waitokauri Cricket Club, was also present. Mr. A. H, Bongo was voted to tho chair. Mr, Wallnult actod as secretary pro tern, pending the appointment of a permanent secretary to the Association, Tho minutes of tho previous annual meeting wore road and confirmed.

Mr. W. Dull', secretary of tho social committee, in reporting the state of the finances, said that at the lust meeting of tho Assosiation, whon the reporo and balance shoot were read, it was found that a sum of ,£lO was owing by tho Association, and immediate steps wcro taken to wipo that deficiency off tho books, A vory successful social was held, the result being thai tho liabilities wero paid and a credit balanco of 13 4s Vd was now in tho hands of tho secretary, (Applause.) At this stage tho Chairman announced that a chequo for £1 Is had just been received from Mrs, Pilling as a donation towards tho Association. A hearty voto of thanks was passod to Mrs. Pilling, with tho Bincerc hopo that others would como forward and do likewise,

Discussion then followed respecting tho constitution of tho Association for the forthcoming season. It was proposed by Mr Cornthwaito and seconded by Mr Dull', " That each club find its own gear," This was carried without discussion,

Proposed by Mr H, Rea ami sccondod by Mr S. Rea, " That ihreo clubs bo constituted, and tbnt separata districts bo formed, each player to play for his rospec» live district only."

An amendment was proposed by Mr. McLennan, seconded by Mr, Lang, that three of City, West and Suburb:-, bo foiinod, and that each player join ivhicn over club he wishes, The amendment was carried by a largo majority.

Mr Rice (Waitekauri) spoke at considerable length upon tho advisability of forming an Upper Ohinemuri Cricket Assoeia* tion, consisting of Waihi, Waitekauri, Waikino and Kurangahuko. He urged that the liest interests ot cricket, from a broad standpoint, would be consequently served, and that tho pretensions of cricketers would bo led further afield, and would not bo bound by tho narrow limits of local matches, Experience would also bo gained, and ho trusted thoso ptosent would fall in with his views on tho subject.

Proposed by Mr McLennau, seconded by Mr Ren, "That each club appoint three delegates, thoy, in conjunction with the president to form tho governing body." Carried,

ISengo was unanimously elee'ed president, Mr. Wiillnutt was next proposed as secretary, but stated that owing to tbo question of tiino ho would have- to stand out. Mr. Cavo was then unanimously ap-« pointod secretary and treasurer to tho Association. Proposed by Mr Corntbwaito aud secan ded by Mr Sutton, " That the Asseciation hold its lust mooting on tbo filh October." Carriod.

Mr Wnlinull urged the nccossily of forming an Umpires and Scorers' Association. After discussion it was decided on the motion of Mr H. Boa, socoudod by Mr Sutton, that such an association bo forinod, and that tbo secretary convono a muetiog of those willing to stand. The hopowas oxprosso'l that many of tho old criototcrs in Waihi would come forward on that occasion. Beforo tho mooting closed the president (Mr Bonge) presented a chequo for ono guinoa to tho Association, which was received with much appreciation, A voto ot thanks to tho ohair torminat* ed a most successful meeting. It is to be hoped that tbo Association will bo helped along by tho donations of trophies or cheques by local adinirors of tho game, and that tho forthcoming season will bo a most successful ono for Waihi.
