PICTURES FROM BOSTON,

collection of oil paintings lent to the Sarjeant Art Gallery by the Boston (U.S.A.) Guild of Artists is creating considerable interest among local enthusiasts in art. 'The pictures were placed on view on Wednesday, and slice then a good number of .people have paid for admission to the Gallery. The collection includes some magnificent paintings by some of the leading artists in the United States For instance, one entitled “A Tea Party,” by Marian Powers, is valued at =£B6o. This painting won the Walter Lippingott prize in 1907 at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts Exhibition. Another picture of special note, “Fairy Tales,” by Zeela Cabot Perry, was awarded the gold medal at the Panama Exposition in 1915, and also the bronze medal by the Department of Fine Arts. 'There are several other, pictures on which the owners have placed high values; for instance, “The Fan,” by M. J. Kirkpatrick, which is ticketed at .£285; “At Twilight,”,.(fcy Ernest Lee, was valued at ,£230; others of similar value being “Girl With the Bed Orange Scarf,” byJßurtis Baker; “Half-Moon Beach,” by M. B. Titcomb; “Interior,”, by Fredk. Bosley. A very fascinating picture of “A Girl Embroidering,” by Margaret Eichardson, is valued at .£345. There are also some pretty landscape scenes, and a striking picture of sea and sward, the latter being by Chas. Hopkinson. The paintings will be on view for several days, and, in addition to those already housed in the Gallery, make' a comprehensive exhibition well worthy of a 'visit of inspection.
