200,000 MINERS AFFECTED

In the House of Representatives, Premier Hughes urged that the Government should take the coal dispute to the High Court, failing which he would appoint another tribunal with Mr Hibble as- chairman to review the disputed portion of the award. Mr Lawson had refused both, but was negotiating with Mr Baddeley, the miners’ president. Me Lawson stated that the Ministry is making preparations in readiness for the conflict, which it is estimated will affect upwards of 200,000 workers.
