BRITAIN AND AMERICA.

AN OFFICIAL DENIAL,

WASHINGTON, Nov. 18.

The State Department .. denies an article published in a Mexico City newspaper, the Lavanguardia, alleging that the United! States, Britain, and Prance signed! a treaty ;n Washington in 1917, wherein Britain recognised the Monroe Doctrine and the priority of the United States to Mexico, Britain also agreeing not to peiinit Japan to acquire territory in Central or South America, or in the Pacific anywhere. The newspaper also asserted that, in the case of Japan objecting, the American and British Fleets would unite against the Japanese.
